Shona Macdonald
Place-to-Place

February 17 - March 30, 2012

EBERSMOORE is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition with Shona Macdonald, entitled Place-to-Place.

For her exhibition, Place-to-Place, Shona Macdonald will show work depicting fragmentary landscape from New Mexico, (where she spent all last year working in the desert in Roswell, NM at the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program), New England and Scotland. The paintings and drawings depict tiny man-made structures popping up in large ‘fields’ of desert surface, grass and farmland. The floor pieces focus on the desert surface and the surface of water, suggesting a closer, more physical space than the airy, empty space of the paintings. Macdonald will also exhibit a series of silverpoint and graphite drawings which echo the subjects seen in the paintings.

Shona Macdonald received her MFA in 1996 in studio arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her BFA in 1992 from Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. She has had recent selected solo shows at the Roswell Art Museum, Roswell, NM, (2011) and Engine Room, Wellington, New Zealand, (2010). Shona Macdonald is a 2009 recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, NY, NY, and a 2010-11 Fellow at Roswell Artist-in-Residence in Roswell, New Mexico.
