Steady as She Goes
October 14 - December 3, 2011
EBERSMOORE is pleased to announce its upcoming solo exhibition Steady as She Goes by Deborah Boardman.
With liquid striations, layered strokes, and gestural abstraction, Deborah Boardman?s new paintings use painting as a format for displaying conventions with idiosyncratic purpose. Imagery as well as abstraction are displayed on the surface, as supplementary structures prompt contemplative, fluid engagement with Boardman?s painting.
"Steady As She Goes" is a nautical expression meaning if "She" is going through the difficult waters, (synonymous with a difficult situation), you, (synonymous with the sailor), are to keep things "steady" as "she goes" through them.
Deborah Boardman lives and works in Chicago, IL. She received her MFA from Tufts University - School of the Museum of Fine Art, Medford, MA in 1987. Boardman has exhibited throughout the Midwest and East Coast.
